How K9 Duvet came into being...
Inspiration often originates from neccessity...
And K9 Duvet is no exception. Our rather ramshackle old Vancouver Special house was spacious but also quite drafty. Our Jack Russell Terrier's dog bed was in a corner in the living room, and as a short-haired dog she shivered in the cold. As a huge animal lover I admit that before bedtime I would often place a blanket over her and "tuck her in" just before I went off to bed.
I noticed that after tucking her in she would settle down right away and fall asleep easily. Of course she would prefer to be in my bed and under my Duvet! Most dog owners I talk to share similar sentiments, which proves that dogs love Duvets and warmth.
Aesthetically it bugged me that the only blankets I could find were human-sized ones and they spilled over the edges of the bed like a big furry blob, making "the dog corner" look messy. On occasion I would come across "dog blankets", but they were always "dog-themed" AKA dog bone or fire hydrant graphics. Often the dog blanket we ended up using was not natural but synthetic materials, which dogs can be as sensitive to as humans.
